Tobacco Bay, Bermuda

My life has been full of uncertainty lately. While it can feel overwhelming at times, it also carries a sense of adventure and possibility. I’ve been learning to see uncertainty not as something to resist, but as an open road with the potential for something amazing to show up at any moment.

It reminds me of a trip to Bermuda I took with my kids a few years ago. We were exploring the town of St. George, which I had read was located near Tobacco Bay, one of the island’s most beautiful beaches. Without knowing exactly where we were going, but with a healthy dose of adventure and curiosity, and trusting that we would find our way, my kids and I set out on foot to locate this stunning beach.

As we walked along the narrow streets and sun-drenched hillsides, we felt like we had landed in the beautiful countryside of a small European village. Still uncertain of exactly where we were going or what we would find, we embraced the journey and enjoyed the scenic adventure. Then, just as we began to wonder if we were completely lost, we rounded a corner, and there before us stretched a breathtaking scene of crystal-clear turquoise waters, soft pink sand, and a perfect little beach bar. .

That day in Bermuda has stayed with me. It wasn’t just about finding Tobacco Bay, it was about discovering the magic of what happens when you perservere. We didn’t know where the path would lead, but with faith and a willingness to keep going, we found our way.

Finding Beauty in the Unknown

Uncertainty will always bring moments of doubt or discomfort, but those moments are also proof that you’re alive and growing. They signal that something new is on the horizon, and that you’re willing to stretch beyond what’s familiar.

Comfort can be a beautiful thing. It feels safe, familiar, and easy. But sometimes, that very comfort can hold us back. It can mask fear and keep us from stepping into experiences that enrich us, bring us true joy, and help us realize our full potential.

When you approach uncertainty with curiosity instead of fear, life can open up in ways you never imagined. Travel is a wonderful reminder of this truth. Each new destination invites you to embrace change, stay curious, and trust your ability to navigate the unknown while ultimately leading you to surprising discoveries.

The Road as a Teacher

I recently saw a sign in front of the local Masonic Lodge in my hometown, it read, “Travel and earn a master’s wage.” That message serves as a great reminder that there’s no better way to learn, grow, and fully live than through travel. Everywhere you go, everything you see, leaves an imprint on who you are and who you’re becoming. Travel teaches us many things—patience, perspective, gratitude—and learning to embrace uncertainty might just be one of the most valuable lessons of all.
